Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room

Unit Information

Join a dynamic team in the Emergency Services Department, providing critical care in a fast-paced environment. This unit features:

• Location: Austin, TX
• Number of Beds: 48 private rooms, 27 hallway stretchers, 9 Fast Track, 5 behavioral health
• Staffing: 111 total staff members, including both day and night shifts
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 (Emergency Department), 1:5 (Behavioral Health), 1:3 (Cardiac/Trauma)
• Type of Equipment: Alaris pumps, Belmont and Level 1 Rapid infusers, Stryker stretchers
• Electronic Medical Record System: MEDITECH

Work Schedule

This position involves rotating weekend shifts. The expected hours are from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department will be responsible for the following:

• Conducting patient assessments and developing care plans
• Assisting with various medical procedures including splinting, EKGs, and airway support
• Providing trauma assistance and behavioral health de-escalation
• Administering medications and monitoring patient responses
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Must Have:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum)
  • NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)
• Preferred:
  • Experience with MEDITECH
  • Trauma experience
  • Inpatient experience
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Dress Code

Scrubs should be navy blue for registered nurses. Please avoid wearing clothing that does not adhere to the standard outlined by the unit.
