Job Description:

The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides a high level of care for the Cath Lab patients pre and post procedures. Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements, and documents nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Our Cardiac Observation Unit (COU) is where our patients are prepped for procedures and recovered post procedure. Our team works with high risk, high acuity patients and prides ourselves on superb outcomes. Bedside procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Cardioversions (CV) are performed in COU.

Responsibilities:

• Admit patients
• Prep patients for Cath procedures (charting pre-procedure checklist, IV start, access preparation)
• Prep patients for Cardioversions (CV) and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE)
• Recover patients following Cath who had conscious sedation
• Sedate, circulate, and document bedside procedures; CV & TEE
• Discharge patients (teaching, documentation, and physical discharge)

Requirements:

• RN-AZ or compact state license
• ACLS
• BLS
• Experience in PACU, ICU, Telemetry, Cath Lab, or Surgery Center considered on a case-by-case basis
