Job Description:

The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides a high level of care for the Cath Lab patients pre and post procedures. Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Bedside procedures such as Trans esophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Cardioversions (CV) are performed in COU.

Responsibilities:

• Admit patients.
• Prep patients for Cath procedures (charting pre procedure checklist, IV start, access preparation).
• Prep patients for Cardioversions (CV), and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE).
• Recover patients following Cath who had conscious sedation.
• Sedate, Circulate, and document bedside procedures; CV & TEE.
• Discharge patients (teaching, documentation, and physical discharge).

Requirements:

• RN-AZ or compact state license.
• ACLS.
• BLS.
• Will consider experience in PACU, ICU, Telemetry, Cath Lab, or Surgery Center on a case-by-case basis.
