Job Description:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professional to provide quality, cost-effective and efficient care and to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Serves as a resource person when the situation requires. Applies age specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Supports Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s mission statement. Is responsible for care of all patients from birth to elderly.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to achieve quality care.
• Serve as a resource person as needed.
• Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.
• Utilize the nursing process in the provision of patient care.
• Administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients and families.
• Supervise Unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.

Requirements:

• Completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution.
• Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current BLS certification.
• Preferred one year experience in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Must be flexible with work schedule.
• Basic EKG skills and basic nursing skills required.
• Cognitive and technical knowledge required to manage care across the continuum of care.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to document actions involved in care delivery.
