Physical Therapist

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist manages a hospital-based inpatient and outpatient physical therapy clinic. The role focuses on supporting patient-centered care and promoting excellence within the organization. The Physical Therapist collaborates with medical staff, participates in interdisciplinary team functions, and fosters a professional atmosphere for department staff. Responsibilities include providing skilled physical therapy evaluations, establishing treatment plans, optimizing department revenue streams, managing expenses, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines. This position also involves coordinating specialized orthopedic field clinics and working closely with corporate teams to enhance administrative processes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited program in Physical Therapy.
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of active, full-time patient care experience; previous managerial experience preferred.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as a Physical Therapist.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Skills

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and correspondence; capable of effective communication in individual and group settings.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic math operations, computing rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpreting graphs.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in creating, editing, critiquing, and publishing professional correspondence; experienced in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense in carrying out detailed instructions and addressing problems that involve various concrete variables.

Work Environment

The role will involve working within a standard physical therapy department environment, including the use of therapeutic exercise equipment and modalities. In village-based settings, the therapist will need to provide necessary equipment and travel using small, non-pressurized planes.
