Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must complete a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
- Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
Education and Certification
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
- ARRT registration in Radiology (R).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer).
Position Purpose
To provide diagnostic imaging services to patients using various imaging modalities, ensuring accurate image acquisition, patient safety, and optimal patient care. Emphasis is placed on patient education, explaining procedures and equipment, to enhance the overall patient experience.
Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge in radiographic procedures, including X-ray and Fluoroscopy, with C-arm and OR work.
- Perform all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or as determined with the Radiologist.
- Practice radiation safety, adhering to ALARA standards.
- Operate imaging equipment following manufacturer recommendations, troubleshooting any equipment issues that arise.
- Verify exam orders and identify patients using two means of identification while providing exam education.
- Review and document patient medical histories, obtain informed consent, and ensure all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete before procedures are submitted for Radiologist interpretation.
- Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic health record (EHR), including charging for procedures and supplies.
- Exhibit flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and covering call, overtime, or holiday shifts as needed.
- Order, stock, and maintain supply inventory.
- Perform clerical duties, assist with phone reception, and facilitate patient transportation as required.
- Support, train, or cross-train imaging staff members as directed.
- Display initiative and self-motivation, maintaining productivity and effectively managing time and responsibilities.
- Complete all required annual education, training, in-services, and licensure/certification updates while actively participating in departmental and organizational meetings.
- Uphold strict patient confidentiality at all times.
- Contribute to department and organization-wide performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, adhering to appropriate departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
- Follow all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a secure environment for patients, the public, and staff.
Experience
- Prior experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist is preferred.
- Cross-trained in other modalities such as CT, MRI, DEXA, and Mammography is advantageous.
- Experience with electronic records and imaging software, including PACS and RIS/HIS, is preferred.
