Mammography/CT Technologist
Job Overview
The Mammography/CT Technologist is responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients of all ages. This role requires knowledge of the principles of growth and development to effectively assess and respond to the needs of patients in a radiology setting.
Essential Functions
- Perform radiographic and sonographic examinations for diagnostic interpretation.
- Exercise professional judgment in the application of radiation safety principles during procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist in departmental quality assurance programs.
- Perform various imaging modalities, including mammography and CT, and ensure competency in ancillary modalities.
- Provide care and support to patients during imaging processes, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Participate in continuing education to maintain and improve skills, including pursuing mandatory CEUs for mammography.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of interventional procedures.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ethical standards.
- Develop and adapt protocols for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients to optimize care.
Patient Age Groups
- Newborn: Birth through 1 Month
- Infant: 1 Month through 5 Years
- School Age: 6 Years through 12 Years
- Adolescent/Teenager: 13 Years through 17 Years
- Young Adult: 18 Years through 34 Years
- Middle Adult: 35 Years through 50 Years
- Mature Adult: 51 Years through 69 Years
- Geriatric Adult: 70 Years and Older
Qualifications
- Current ARRT certification in Radiography and relevant imaging modalities.
- BLS certification required within a specified time frame after employment.
- Clinical competency must be demonstrated within three months of hire and every three years thereafter.
- Experience performing diagnostic examinations in assigned modalities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform diagnostic exams related to assigned imaging modalities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with patients and healthcare team members.
- Capacity to work effectively in high-stress situations.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to additional imaging modalities as necessary.
Work Environment
The Mammography/CT Technologist will provide services in various locations within the region, helping to ensure that diagnostic imaging services are accessible to all patients. This position may require travel to multiple sites.
Additional Information
- Participation in department and organizational meetings, training sessions, and disaster drills is expected.
- Must maintain responsibilities for departmental hygiene and organization.
