Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Position Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide high-quality patient care. This position entails working nights from 7 PM to 7 AM for a duration of 13 weeks. The LPN will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse and will be responsible for various delegated aspects of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide delegated aspects of direct patient care in compliance with hospital and departmental policies.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and scientific judgment in planning and delivering safe patient care.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education and training.
• Participate in the delegation of patient care priorities based on the skills and experience of available staff.
• Supervise and provide direction to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
• Conduct physical examinations, data collection, and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Administer medications and perform peripheral IV therapy as needed.
• Implement physician’s orders and ensure accurate documentation of patient care.
• Contribute to discharge planning and patient education.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• IV Certification required.
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.
• Perm address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility.
