Lab Supervisor – Microbiology

Job Description

The Lab Supervisor – Microbiology is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the microbiology unit, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality results. This role includes direct staff management, administrative duties, and maintaining a strong understanding of all positions within the department.

General Duties

• Monitor daily workflow of departmental processes and perform duties in areas of supervision.
• Manage staff timecards and schedules, including new hire processing, staff development, and corrective actions.
• Supervise operations in assigned areas, including hiring, orientation, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Assist in resolving systems issues and enforce department policies, ensuring prompt conflict resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
• At least 2 years of professional experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) in microbiology.
• MLS certification is required.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with varied shifts, typically consisting of 4 ten-hour days Monday through Friday, with the possibility of changing to 5 eight-hour shifts if needed. Weekend and holiday work may be required as necessary.
