Surgical Technician

Position Summary

The Surgical Technician provides surgical support under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor. This role involves assisting the surgeon with instrumentation needs while acting as a liaison between the physician, patient, and family. Additionally, the Surgical Technician collaborates with other healthcare team members, assists in the orientation of new personnel, and participates in various departmental meetings and interdisciplinary committees. The technician must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for all general procedures, tailored to specific chronological and developmental age requirements, as well as psycho-social maturity.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess experience in the following areas:

• Orthopedics
• Neurosurgery/Orthopedic Spine
• General Surgery/Robotics
• Urology/Gynecology
• Vascular Surgery

Educational Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technician School or an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• At least 1 year of travel or temporary experience is required.
• If a graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing, 1 year of surgical technician/scrubbing experience is required, with 2 years preferred.

Licensure and Certification

• National Surgical Technician Certification is preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must complete required online training modules within one week of acceptance into the role.
