Job Description:

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per physician, with emphasis in specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. Duties include monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, understanding ramifications of hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results, and providing patient teaching and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in department policy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of Respiratory Care procedures.
  • Verify Respiratory Care physician’s orders and provide accurate reports.
  • Participate in in-services, meetings, and mandatory hospital meetings.
  • Enter all daily services and charges into the department’s computer system.
  • Perform effective airway management and assist with intubation.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new employees and students.
  • Initiate, maintain, and monitor ventilator patients, interpreting clinical changes.
  • Comply with personal protective equipment requirements.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must pass a background check and a drug screen.
  • Complete employee health meeting.
  • Graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program with CRT Credential.
  • BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • NRP certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • At least one year of respiratory experience in a hospital setting.
