Emergency Department Technician

Job Summary/Purpose

Assists with patient admissions, both outpatient and inpatient, in the Emergency Department and other clinical areas of the hospital as required. Responsible for clerical duties associated with patient care and provides assistance with patient care for individuals ranging from newborns to geriatric patients, as directed by the Emergency Department Manager, Medical Director, and designated unit staff.

Department Description

The Emergency Department delivers care to patients with a broad spectrum of needs, including non-critical and emergent medical conditions, as well as urgent mental health care. The department is open to all patients, whether arriving by walk-in or emergency transport. All staff in the Emergency Department are certified to provide care for critical cardiac and trauma patients, including children.

Experience/Education/Qualifications

• Current unencumbered EMT, AEMT, or EMT-I certification in Oregon.
• Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience or training in computer applications is required.
• Previous experience in the Emergency Department is preferred.

Shift Information

Days (0700-1930) with rotating weekends. Holiday coverage is required.

Minimum Years of Experience

1 year of experience required.

Certifications / Requirements

BLS/BCLS certification is necessary.
