Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. This position involves providing high-acuity care to patients, with a focus on stroke and cardiac-related conditions.

• Located in a central area with access to national parks such as Yosemite.
• Close proximity to various lakes including McClure, McSwain, Don Pedro, and Lake Yosemite for outdoor activities.

• Approximately 2 hours from San Francisco and Sacramento, and 1 hour from Fresno and Modesto.
• Ideal for day trips to Mariposa, Groveland, or El Portal.

Unit Information

• Unit: Telemetry 4th Floor
• Number of Beds: 34
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS
• Patient Ratios: 1 to 4
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
• Charge Nurse Available on Each Shift
• Nurse Aides Available, but no specified ratio
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends every 4 weeks
• Holiday Requirements: Work one major holiday and two minor holidays
• Scrub Color: Navy
• Telemetry Monitoring: GE, with additional monitors available on the unit
• Ventilation Support: Bi-pap
• Hospitalists available in-house 24/7
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy Services operational 24/7
• No on-call requirements
• Shifts: 7 AM – 7 PM
• Floating Requirements: First to float to Medical/Surgical Telemetry floors (5th, 6th, and 7th)
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 days for those with Cerner experience; 3 days for those without

Patient Demographics and Common Diagnoses

• Primarily caring for stroke patients post-CVA
• Other common conditions include CHF, respiratory failure, diabetes, hypertension, and post-operative cases
• Travelers will not be assigned to catheterization or PCI patients

Requirements

• Must be stroke certified with experience in caring for stroke patients
• Prior experience in Telemetry, Stepdown, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings is required
• Must adhere to a 50-mile radius rule; local rates unavailable
• Not eligible if employed permanently or per diem at another location within the last 12 months
• Must prioritize travel assignment schedule and cannot hold a second job
• Profile review to be completed via SmartSheet, followed by clinical recommendation

Additional Information

If placed on standby, response time must be within 30 minutes. Failure to be called in while on standby may count as a cancellation under the policy. Travelers should be prepared for situations when nurse aides may not be available and will be expected to perform primary nursing duties. Opportunities for extra shifts may also arise, but block scheduling cannot be accommodated.
