Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 AM, 1:4 PM or 1:4 AM, 1:5 PM (with patient care techs)
• Unit Staffing Description: Primarily RN-based care with limited tech support. Unit secretaries available from 7 AM to 7 PM for a variety of resources.
• Type of Equipment: BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements:
  • Full-Time Staff: 36 hours/week with a scheduled weekend rotation every third weekend.
  • Part-Time Staff: 48 hours/week with a scheduled weekend rotation every third weekend.
  • PRN 1 Staff: 3 shifts within a 4-week period with 1 weekend shift required.
  • PRN 2 Staff: 6 shifts within a 4-week period with 3 weekend shifts required.
  • Rotating holiday schedule applies.
• Floating Policy: PRN staff float 1 time per week; full-time and part-time staff float based on a rotation of scheduled dates. Bonus shifts will float first.
• Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside shift report, hourly rounding, and daily leadership rounds.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Advanced assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to manage vasoactive drips.
• Typical Procedures: Central Line or PICC line placement.
• Best Personality Fit: A positive attitude with a strong desire to collaborate as part of a team.

Dress Code

Uniform requirements include charcoal grey scrub tops with matching scrub bottoms, and black or charcoal grey jackets, with the option to order unit-specific jackets.

This unit is recognized as a Designated Education Unit and is equipped with new cardiac monitors that provide visual cardiac rhythm displays in each room.
