General Information

Unit Overview:

• Number of Beds: 40
• Staffing Structure:
• Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), 1 Unit Secretary
• Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Patient Ratios: 1:4, with stretch staffing at a 1:5 ratio
• Patient Types:
  • CHF
  • Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • Chest Pain (CP)
  • Arrhythmia
  • Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Valvular Disease
  • Endocarditis
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Post Cardiac Catheterization/Stent
  • Post Pacemaker/ICD/Ablation
• Typical Equipment: Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, bladder scanners
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner

Typical Hiring Profile

Required Skills: Candidates without these qualifications will not be considered.

• Stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry experience
• Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and furosemide (Lasix)

Preferred Skills: Candidates with these qualifications will be prioritized.

• Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience

Typical Procedures Performed

• Bedside Cardioversion

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Floating Areas

May include all MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID units, and ER holding.

Dress Code

Scrubs: All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants.

Weekend Requirements

Every other weekend is required.

Years of Experience

Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience is required.
