PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for our progressive care unit. This role involves providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment, managing both adult and pediatric patients (ages 15 and older) with various medical conditions.

Unit Information

• Unit Name: 4th Floor East Wing
• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Number of Beds: 55
• Common Patient Diagnoses: CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, weakness

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Times: 1830-0630
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Providing direct patient care in a progressive care setting.
• Administering medications and monitoring patient responses.
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, PT, and OT.
• Participating in hourly rounding and ensuring responsiveness to patient needs.
• Using telemetry and other specialized equipment to monitor patient vitals and treatments.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years
• Competency: Experience with telemetry and IV pumps (Alaris)
