Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of PCU experience and be able to manage a variety of patient conditions, including pneumonia, ARDS, Covid-19 infections, hypertension urgency, angina, cardiac catheterization patients, and alcohol withdrawal. This role offers an opportunity to work night shifts with potential flexibility.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide care in a 24-bed Progressive Care Unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4.
• Titrate medications including Amiodarone, Diltiazem, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Dobutamine.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals including a 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor.
• Utilize respiratory equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen.
• Monitor patients through remote monitoring with RN approval.
• Participate in unit orientation for new staff members.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Weekly Requirement: 36 hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Yes, including two winter holidays

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit or similar setting.
• Ability to float to other facilities within the region as needed.
• Flexibility with scheduling is preferred.

Additional Information

• On-site free parking is available.
• Nurse aids will be present on the unit with a ratio of 1:10.
• Standby may be required if additional staff is available.
• No specific dress code for scrubs.
