PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our stepdown unit. This dynamic and fast-paced environment requires a compassionate and dedicated professional to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage patient care for a variety of conditions, including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.
• Titrate medications and drips as needed, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Nitro.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips and monitor patients’ vital signs.
• Assist with troubleshooting and operating respiratory equipment such as CPAP.
• Participate in patient admissions and discharges efficiently.
• Maintain a positive attitude, teamwork, and a focus on patient-centered care.

Unit Information

• Type: Stepdown Unit
• Bed Count: 22
• Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Patient Care Tech Ratio: 1:10
• Charge Nurse present on each shift, who also takes a patient assignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a related field.
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Valid driver’s license required for verification of residency outside the radius rule.

Scheduling and Requirements

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Times: Nights
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 major holiday and 1 minor holiday
• Floating: May float to ICU if appropriate and has the required experience.
• Unit-specific orientation includes one 12-hour shift in the department.
• All nurses are subject to a pass/fail exam during orientation.
