Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position is located in a fast-paced, stepdown unit, providing care for patients with a variety of common diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a Stepdown setting, managing a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
• Administer medications and titrate IV drips as necessary, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Nitro.
• Interpret cardiac strips and make clinical decisions based on findings.
• Collaborate with a charge nurse who maintains a full patient assignment while overseeing unit activities.
• Ensure effective communication and teamwork among staff to deliver patient-centered care.
• Assist with troubleshooting respiratory therapy equipment, such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Stepdown or similar unit.
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make quick decisions in emergencies.
• Positive attitude and commitment to patient care and teamwork.

Schedule and Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts with a cyclic scheduling model.
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirements: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year.
• Float to ICU may be required if appropriate and experience permits.
• Mandatory completion of a unit-specific orientation shift.

Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas. Please note that non-compliance may lead to termination. Additionally, advanced notice of any planned time off (RTO) is necessary, as adjustments will not be approved after submissions.
