Location: Asheville, NC

Unit Type: Pulmonary Stepdown

• Number of Beds: 23 step down, 16 med-surg
• Staffing:
  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 PCTs
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 PCTs
• Patient Ratios:
  • 1:3-4 for step down
  • 1:4-6 for med-surg
• Type of Equipment: lifts, chest tubes, cardiac drips, stable vented patients, tracheostomy care
• EMR: Cerner

Position Summary

The Travel Registered Nurse (RN) will provide high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced pulmonary stepdown unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, particularly in managing patients with tracheostomies and related respiratory conditions. The RN will work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through evidence-based practices and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Experience working with tracheostomy patients
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Preferred:
  • Previous experience using Cerner EMR

• Wound dressing changes

Work Schedule

The RN will be required to work 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) within a 6-week period.

Floating Requirements

Staff may be required to float to other med-surg and progressive care units as needed.
