Registered Nurse – Progressive Care (Nursing)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care unit. This role involves providing specialized care for patients in a step-down environment, focusing on complex medical conditions and delivering high-quality nursing care to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patient conditions, providing appropriate interventions for stability and recovery.
• Manage care for patients dealing with conditions such as sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, substance abuse, status epilepticus, and encephalopathy.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4, ensuring comprehensive care is provided effectively.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families on care plans, treatment options, and management strategies.
• Document patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the medical team promptly.
• Possible floating to other Intermediate Care Units as needed, with 5J and 12A being the most common units.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a progressive care or step-down unit.
• Current certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support).
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
