Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult Transitions

General Information

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Adult Transitions team. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients across various units with differing acuity levels.

Unit Specifics

  • Number of Beds:
    • Adolescent Unit: 18
    • Serenity Unit: 24
    • Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU): 32
    • Senior Residential and Dementia Unit (SRAD): 16
    • VINE Unit: 9
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Nurses: 8 to 1
    • Mental Health Technicians (MHTs): 12 to 1
  • Unit Overview:
    • Adolescent Unit: Serves patients aged 12-18 years.
    • Serenity Unit: Lower acuity adult patients.
    • ITU: Higher acuity adult patients, typically with thought disorders.
    • SRAD: Patients living a senior lifestyle.
    • VINE: Lower acuity adult patients.
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Scheduling Requirements: Coverage for three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.
  • Floating Policy: Crisis Levels are utilized to address the greatest need.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills:
    • Ability to assess patients’ mental health and recognize signs of psychiatric and behavioral issues.
    • Experience in care planning, including developing individualized care plans and evaluating outcomes.
    • Knowledge in medication management, specifically in administering and monitoring psychiatric medications.
    • Crisis intervention expertise, including de-escalation techniques and medication management for patients in crisis.
  • Advanced Skills:
    • Therapeutic communication competencies, including the ability to build trust and rapport with patients.

Procedures Performed on Unit

  • Monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and medication effects.

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Dress Code

Nurses are required to wear blue uniforms, while Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) will wear green or black.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 1 year of experience is required.
