Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult Transitions

General Information

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for our Adult Transitions unit. This position involves providing care to a diverse patient population within a supportive environment.

Unit Specifics

  • Number of Beds: ADOL 18, Serenity 24, ITU 32, SRAD 16, VINE 9
  • Patient Ratios: Nurses 8:1, Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) 12:1
  • Unit Description:
    • ADOL: Serves patients aged 12-18
    • Serenity: Low acuity adult unit
    • ITU: High acuity adult unit for patients with thought disorders
    • SRAD: For patients living a senior lifestyle
    • VINE: Low acuity adult unit
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Scheduling Requirements: Coverage for three 12-hour shifts daily, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.
  • Floating Policy: Clinical staff is deployed according to the highest demand.
  • Patient Experience Requirements: Institute ICARE values: Integrity, Compassion, Always, Respect, and utilize AIDET communication practices to ensure patients feel heard and informed.

Qualifications

  • Must Have:
    • Crisis Intervention skills to provide immediate support to patients in distress, including de-escalation techniques.
    • Ability to assess mental health status and recognize signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems.
  • Advanced Skills Needed:
    • Therapeutic Communication to build trust and rapport with patients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs, including setting goals and implementing interventions.
  • Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patient response to treatment.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, including observing patient behavior and using diagnostic tools.
  • Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and changes in mental status.

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Dress Code

Nurses are required to wear blue scrubs, while Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) may wear green or black scrubs.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
