Pediatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a team to provide compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of children and their families.

Position Details

  • Location: San Antonio, TX
  • Unit: Children’s Emergency
  • Shift Options: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 1:00 PM – 1:30 AM, 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM
  • Weekend Requirements: Rotating
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the emergency department.
  • Perform and document assessments, interventions, and care plans.
  • Utilize standard emergency room equipment specific for pediatric management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members, including physicians, midlevel providers, and pharmacists.
  • Ensure a family-centered care approach, creating a welcoming environment for families.
  • Adhere to all hospital guidelines and policies including floating requirements.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills:
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas (temporary licenses are not accepted).
    • 2+ years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience.
    • Certifications in BLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Leadership experience as a charge nurse or nursing educator.
    • Proficiency with Meditech documentation system.

The emergency department experiences high patient volumes, especially during peak seasons. Candidates should be adaptable and capable of floating to other units as necessary.

Dress Code

  • Scrub Color: Navy (undershirts and jackets in white, navy, or black only; no hooded jackets or sweaters).
  • Nail Policy: No artificial nails or nail polish.
  • Hair: Must be off shoulders and in natural colors.
  • Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible.
  • Piercings: Visible piercings other than earrings are not allowed.
