Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

This position is located in a Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit, specializing in the care of patients undergoing cardiovascular and vascular surgeries. The patient population primarily includes those recovering from complex procedures such as open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR), thoracic surgeries, and endovascular interventions.

• Number of Beds: 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds
• Staffing: Approximately 100 total staff members
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 patients per RN, 1:13 for Patient Care Technicians

Typical Responsibilities

• Manage patients recovering from cardiovascular and vascular surgeries
• Perform chest tube and epidural management
• Administer tube feedings and IV gluccomander
• Oversee cardiac medication management including dobutamine, dopamine, and insulin

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in telemetry and stepdown units
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience in a cardiovascular and vascular surgery setting is preferred
• Prior CVICU experience is a plus

Work Schedule

Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) within a 6-week schedule period. Flexibility to work on holidays is also expected.

Attire includes all navy scrubs, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white scrubs.
