Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of one year of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a progressive care unit (PCU) and possess the necessary certifications and skills to provide high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- Consideration for first-time travelers with at least 2 years total nursing experience, including 1 year in PCU
- Certifications: Current ACLS and BLS required
Required Skills
- Trach care
- Chest tube management
- TR band application
- Post Cath Lab care including familiarity with stent placements and fresh cath patients
- Central line maintenance care
- General nursing skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and measure cardiac rhythms
- Caring for patients on BiPAP and high-flow oxygen
- Comfortable managing titratable drips: diltiazem, amiodarone, heparin, digoxin, Bumex, and Lasix
Patient Types
- General medical conditions: diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, genitourinary issues, COVID-19, pneumonia, altered mental status, transient ischemic attacks, acute kidney injury, dehydration, alcohol-related disorders, syncope, chronic kidney disease, sepsis, stroke, dialysis, pulmonary edema, anemia, shock, and hypoxia
- Cardiac patients: care before and after PCI procedures, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, and NSTEMI
- Oncology patients: caring for patients with diagnoses including leukemia and neutropenia, but administration of chemotherapy is not required unless specified
Work Environment
This position is located in a 226-bed non-profit community hospital with 34 beds dedicated to progressive care. The facility serves a high volume of Spanish-speaking patients (approximately 30%) and focuses on compassionate care for underserved populations.
Work Schedule
Shift times are as follows:
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Weekend rotation is required, with a minimum of two weekends per month. Weekend night shifts consist of Friday and Saturday, while Sunday is not considered a weekend night.
Additional Information
Successful candidates may be required to float within their scope throughout the facility as needed. Experience with the Epic EMR system is preferred.
