Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU

Unit Information

This position involves working in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), where staff members are required to float between different areas to provide care for surgical patients. The PACU features a blend of surgical robotics, orthopedic, and critical care cases.

Unit Details

• Number of Beds:
  • Main: 27 bays
  • Surgical Robotics: 12 bays (opening February)
  • Orthopedic Surgery Center: 20 bays

  Total: 59 bays for Pre-Op and PACU combined.

• Number of Staff: Approximately 70, including Pre-Admit Clinic personnel.
• Staffing Type: Registered Nurses (RNs) and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs).
• Patient Ratios:
  • 1 RN to 2 patients
  • Same day surgery patients may have up to 3 at a time

  Staffing is aligned with ASPAN standards.

• Equipment Used: GE Monitors
• EMR System: Meditech

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Critical Care and/or PACU experience
• PALS, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in Stroke Care

Typical Procedures Performed

• Pre-Operative and Post-Anesthesia care for patients receiving anesthesia
• Manage high-volume Neuro patients, including stroke patients
• Interventional Radiology procedures
• TAVR procedures
• Critical Care overflow
• Various surgeries, including spine, general, GI, colorectal, total joints, GYN, and robotics cases
