Unit Overview

The Orthopedic unit features:

• Number of Beds: 30
• Staffing: 1 Charge RN, 4-6 Bedside RNs, 2-4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
• Type of Equipment: Continuous Passive Motion machines for specialty surgeries, nerve block pumps, On-Q balls
• Electronic Medical Records: Meditech

Typical Procedures

Common procedures performed on the unit include:

• IV starts
• Foley and straight catheterization
• CPM application and early mobilization

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Orthopedic RN in an acute care hospital
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Skills

• Medical/Surgical experience
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Experience with Meditech EMR
