Job Description:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professional to provide quality, cost-effective and efficient care and to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Serves as a resource person when the situation requires. Applies age specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Supports Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s mission statement. Is responsible for care of all patients from birth to elderly during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.

Responsibilities:

• Able to practice nursing as described in the Alaska Status regarding the practice of Registered Nursing.
• Able to utilize the nursing process in the provision of patient care.
• Able to administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, provide patient/family/significant other education, and collaborate with other professions.
• Collaborates with Administrative Assistants, Schedulers, and CSR Techs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.

Requirements:

• Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution. Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 – 2 years OR experience.
• Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current BLS & ACLS, preferred to have PALS.
• National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Cognitive and technical knowledge required with the ability to manage care across the continuum of care.
• Knowledge of AORN standards required.
