Position Description

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Oncology, providing care in a dynamic hospital environment.

Unit Information

Details about the unit:

• Number of Beds: 24
• Number of Staff: 42
• Staff Composition:
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse (CNC), 4-6 RNs, 2 Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), 1 Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse (CNC), 4-6 RNs, 2 CNAs
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
• Type of Equipment: Standard unit equipment
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner

Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

• Must Have:
  • Valid nursing license (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Chemotherapy Certification

Typical Procedures

Procedures performed on the unit may include:

• Occasional pelvic exams
• Echo and thoracentesis

Required Certifications: None at this time

Floating Areas: Other medical-surgical units; team rarely floats

Dress Code:

• RNs: Navy, white, or a combination of both colors
• CNAs: Galaxy Blue

Work Schedule

Staff may be required to work 6 weekend days per schedule. Rare call responsibilities may apply.

Experience

Experience Required: 2+ years in a relevant nursing role.
