Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Oncology Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care to patients in a MedSurg/Oncology unit. This position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Name: MedSurg/Oncology
• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Number of Beds: 17 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5, potentially 1:4 if a patient is receiving chemotherapy

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Timing: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holidays: Work will be integrated into the permanent staff rotation

Role Responsibilities

• Caring for medical-surgical and oncology patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
• Comfortable managing patients experiencing a range of symptoms, with a focus on oncology care without administering chemotherapy
• Participating in team-based care and ensuring effective communication among team members
• Floating to telemetry units or other med-surg floors as needed
• Interpreting and responding to cardiac telemetry readings; nurses must complete a dysrhythmia exam

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in oncology or a relevant specialty
• BLS Certification required
• Must possess a COVID vaccination
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred
• Team player with strong collaboration skills

Additional Information

• EMR System: Cerner
• Support Staff: 1 nurse aide available on day shifts for 8 hours
• Clinical Supervision: Charge nurse functions in a supervisory role without patient assignment, providing break relief
• Pharmacy and RT: Available 24/7
