Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology

General Information

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our outpatient oncology clinic in Rapid City, SD. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of that experience in oncology.

Patient Population

• Patients aged 18 years and older
• Medical Oncology and Hematology
• Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) – pre-transplant and post-transplant care

Responsibilities

• Manage an average of 15-25 patients per day with comprehensive cancer support.
• Perform patient assessments including vital signs, review of systems, and medication reconciliation.
• Room patients and obtain necessary orders for infusions.
• Assist with procedures and ensure proper setup for exams conducted in the clinic.
• Conduct chart checks and support referrals.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nursing education program approved by the board of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with the appropriate board of nursing.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in oncology.
• Experience with EPIC Ambulatory system is required.
• Clinic experience strongly preferred.

Support and Resources

• Access to department leadership and experienced charge nurses.
• Collaboration with a team of seven Medical Oncologists, typically supported by an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).
• On-site lab for expedited testing and support.

Orientation and Scheduling

New hires will experience a departmental orientation typically lasting five days, subject to adjustment based on individual competency levels. Scheduled shifts consist of four 10-hour days from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with no weekends or on-call responsibilities, and working on minor holidays only.
