Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology

General Information

We are currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our outpatient clinic in Rapid City, SD. This position is ideal for professionals with a minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in Oncology.

Patient Types

• Patients 18 years and older
• Medical Oncology/Hematology
• Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) – pre-transplant and post-transplant

Daily Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for managing care for approximately 15-25 patients per day with comprehensive cancer support. Your duties will include:

• Chaperoning providers during exams and procedures
• Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, reviewing systems, and reconciling medications
• Processing patients for infusions and communicating clearance status
• Conducting chart checks and reviews of referrals
• Setting up for procedures

Support on the Unit

You will work as part of a dedicated team that includes:

• Department Leadership
• Case Assistants
• Charge Nurse
• Team Lead as resource
• On-site Lab
• Chemotherapy nurses for port access and blood draws
• A team of seven Medical Oncologists, each supported by an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)

Charting System/Equipment

Experience with the Epic Ambulatory charting system is required for this role.

Scheduling and Orientation

Typical scheduling includes:

• Five 10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Days off will vary based on clinic needs
• No weekends or on-call required
• Minor holidays may require scheduling, but major holidays are off

A departmental orientation typically lasts five days and may vary based on your skill set and comfort level.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in South Dakota
• BLS certification
• Completion of a nursing education program approved by a Board of Nursing
• Minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in Oncology
• Clinic experience and familiarity with Epic Ambulatory
