Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology/Hematology
Unit Overview
This position is within a 21-bed unit dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of hematological and oncology conditions, as well as providing palliative and inpatient hospice care. Responsibilities include specialized medical care for patients with tracheostomies, administering inpatient chemotherapy, symptom management, and supportive care for progressive illnesses.
Contract Details
- Length of Contract: Preference for 26 weeks or longer; 13-week contracts may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Orientation Dates: Scheduled for 10/05/2026, 10/19/2026, 11/02/2026, 11/16/2026, and 11/30/2026.
- Shift: 12-hour shifts with a guaranteed 36 hours per week.
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
- Holiday Rotation: One holiday off may be requested; includes federal holidays and specific non-essential holidays.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:
- Providing high-quality patient care for oncology and hematology patients.
- Administering chemotherapy and other medications as prescribed.
- Managing symptoms and providing supportive care to patients with progressive diagnoses.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintaining accurate patient records using the Epic charting system.
Qualifications
- Education: ADN or BSN required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience required, with a preference for oncology/hematology experience.
- Certifications:
- AHA BLS certification required at the time of submission.
- Chemotherapy Certification preferred.
- Licensure: Current Kansas license or multistate license required. No disciplinary history allowed.
Additional Information
- Staffing Ratios: 1:6, and 1:4 with active chemotherapy infusions.
- Scrub Color: Navy.
- Jewelry and Body Adornment Policy: Visible tattoos are allowed unless offensive; piercings must maintain a professional appearance.
- Vaccination Requirements: Proof of vaccination or immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, TDaP, and Influenza (or exemption during flu season), as well as TB documentation.
