Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Neuro

Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical Neuro nursing. The nurse will provide care for patients with acute and subacute neurological conditions, including strokes and transient ischemic attacks, as well as general medical concerns. The role demands a commitment to high-quality patient care through clinical expertise, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Unit Information

This position is located on a 31-bed unit that serves both medical-surgical and neurological patients, including those with behavioral health disorders. The staff will care for patients with a significant history of behavioral health issues but no prior behavioral health experience is necessary.

Contract Details

  • Contract Length: 26 weeks, with a preference for longer contracts of 26-51 weeks.
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
  • Holidays: One holiday off may be requested; additional non-essential holidays available.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Kansas or Multistate nursing license.
  • AHA BLS certification required at time of submission; CPI and NIHSS certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of one year of acute care medical/surgical nursing experience.
  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Compliance and Immunizations

Documentation of immunization status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella (through titer or completed vaccination series) is required. Additional requirements include TDaP vaccine and an influenza vaccine or exemption during flu season, as well as tuberculosis (TB) documentation.
