Position Overview

The Mother/Baby unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to women of childbearing age and their newborns. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and be able to recognize and respond to various patient needs and risk factors associated with postpartum care.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 26
• Patient Ratios: 6-8 patients per nurse
• Unit Staffing: RNs with rare use of Patient Care Technicians
• Type of Equipment: Vitals machines, glucometers, computers, and postpartum supplies
• Documentation System: CPN, Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: Varies, typically includes challenging shifts and weekend commitments
• Floating Policy: Within women’s services unless cross-trained to pediatrics and/or NICU

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to postpartum women and their newborns.
• Assess and identify risk factors related to sepsis, venous thromboembolism (VTE/DVT), suicide, malignant hyperthermia, and pressure injuries.
• Provide patient education and discharge planning.
• Manage pain effectively and prioritize patient care needs based on acuity.
• Utilize AIDET and BSSR in patient interactions to enhance patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Must possess current BLS and NRP certifications.
