Certified Nurse Midwife

Position Overview

This role involves working in-house for 24-hour shifts, primarily focused on deliveries, under a contract that lasts 12 weeks with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Triage all patients and manage admissions.
• Perform uncomplicated vaginal deliveries and discharge non-cesarean section patients.
• Consult with physicians for complicated cases and assist with operative deliveries.
• Provide emotional support and guidance to patients before, during, and after labor.
• Identify high-risk pregnancies and educate patients and their families about antenatal care and reproductive health.
• Opportunity to provide care in the Women’s Clinic as needed.

Work Schedule

The typical schedule consists of 7-24 hour shifts per month. Shifts may occasionally include Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays; however, weekend coverage may be provided by locums or full-time family practice providers, resulting in variable weekend availability. Personnel will always have time off after on-call duties. There are opportunities to work two shifts with a minimum of 24 hours between shifts.

Facility Environment

The midwives will be working in various settings, including birthing centers, patients’ homes, and hospital environments. A designated call room is available for staff use.

Qualifications

• Certification: AMCB, ACLS, BLS, NRP, OBDNN.
• Current OK state license and OK DEA / OBDNN certification required.

Patient Volume

Currently, the midwives are experiencing an average of 5-6 births per day, with expectations for increased volume in conjunction with a new hospital opening in the coming months.
