Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg

Unit Information

This unit specializes in Neuro Med Surg and comprises 38 beds with a staff of 55 members.

Staffing Details

• Day Shift: 2 charges (without patients), RN to patient ratio of 4-5:1, and 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCT).
• Night Shift: 1-2 charges (depending on staffing), RN to patient ratio of 4-5:1, and 2 PCT.
• Patient Ratios: Estimated at 5:1 or 6:1 (not guaranteed).

Equipment Used

• IV pumps
• Seizure monitoring
• Bi-pap, C-pap (mostly at night)
• Glucometer

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

The EMR system used is Meditech.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• 1 year of current Med/Surg experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Experience in Neuro settings
• Familiarity with Meditech

Typical Procedures Performed

• NIH stroke assessments and neuro assessments
• Fall risk assessments
• Tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube management
