Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a telemetry unit. This position involves providing quality care to patients in a fast-paced environment with a focus on medical-surgical and telemetry patients.

Unit Information

This position is based in a telemetry unit with:

• 38 total beds, including 8 telemetry beds.
• Patient care ratio of 1:5.
• Common diagnoses include general medical-surgical patients and post-operative general and orthopedic cases.
• Utilization of Cerner electronic medical records (EMR).

Shift Information

The role requires:

• 12-hour night shifts starting at 6:45 PM.
• Every other weekend commitment.
• Rotation through major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s).

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

• Providing care and support for patients on the telemetry unit.
• Administering medications and IV therapies, including drips like Amiodarone and Diltiazem.
• Reading and interpreting EKG strips as required.
• Collaborating with a hospitalist or intensivist who is on-site.
• Participating in self-scheduling and responding to extra shift opportunities.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• NIHSS certification.
• A minimum of two years of nursing experience.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work in a high-stress environment.

Additional Information

Candidates are required to complete a basic dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with a pass/fail outcome. Successful candidates will undergo 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor.

Hospital support includes a 24/7 respiratory therapy team and pharmacy services. The unit includes nurse aides based on census and staffing needs.
