Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Tele unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a rural healthcare setting. This position requires teamwork, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.

Unit Information

• Unit: Med/Tele – K3
• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 25
• Patient Ratios: 5-6 patients per nurse

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Day shift (7 am – 7 pm), every other weekend and holidays required
• Floating Requirements: May float to other med/surg units and possibly to PCU for Tele holds prior to transfer

Patient Care Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Caring for patients with common diagnoses such as congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes, pneumonia (PNA), and chronic kidney disease (CKD)
• Titrating Heparin drips; RN’s must be able to read telemetry strips
• Collaborating with Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators when needed

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience
• Certifications: BLS (AHA) and ACLS certification preferred
• Skills: Strong communication, time management, and teamwork abilities; rural hospital experience preferred

Work Environment

This position operates within a Med/Tele unit featuring a team that is accustomed to working with travelers and has established leadership in place. The unit relies heavily on being adaptable to meet the needs of the patient community.

• Charting System: Currently using Paragon, transitioning to EPIC by October 30, 2026
• Scrub Color: Navy blue
• PCTs Availability: Patient Care Technicians available at a ratio of 12/1
