Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our Med/Tele unit. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients within a rural hospital setting. The ideal candidate will be a team player, focused on contributing to the health of the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients on telemetry for various conditions such as CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, and chronic kidney disease.
  • Administer medications and titrate drips as necessary, primarily managing Heparin.
  • Utilize effective communication and time management skills to ensure patient safety and care quality.
  • Read telemetry strips and collaborate with telemetry monitor techs for patient monitoring.
  • Participate in nursing activities across the unit, including floating to other med/surg units as needed.
  • Comply with weekend and holiday shift requirements as part of the scheduling process.

Unit Information

  • Type: Med/Tele – K3
  • Total Beds: 25
  • Patient Ratios: 5-6 patients per nurse
  • PCTs present with a ratio of 12:1

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Tele nursing experience is required.
  • BLS (AHA) certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Strong communication and time management skills are essential.
  • Rural hospital experience is preferred.

Shift and Scheduling

This position follows a 12-hour night shift schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM, with a requirement of every other weekend and holiday coverage. Scheduling is managed by unit leadership to meet the needs of the facility.

Orientation and Training

Orientation will include 2 shadow shifts to facilitate familiarity with unit protocols and workflows using the Paragon Charting System; the unit is transitioning to EPIC in the future.
