Position is for MS RN in the ED Hold area
● About Facility:
· 492 Beds
· Level II Trauma Center
· Level III NICU
· Primary Stroke Center
● General Information:
· Beds: 67 Beds in the ED – MS Holds beds will be allocated. Quick turnover! Will get a bed and then get a new assignment.
· Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience? Yes
· Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes with at least 2 years’ experience and Cerner OR EPIC (EMR) experience with level II Trauma Experience
● Patient Types:
· CHF exacerbation, TIA vs. CVA rule out, GI/GU, weakness/dizziness, chest pain
● Patient Ratios:
· 1:5
● Required Licensure & Certifications:
· BLS, NIHSS, CPI or similar required, ACLS preferred,
● Skills required:
· Looking for a MS RN, not a ER RN. 18 months of MS experience. Will not expect ER experience that floats to MS.
· ED experience not required, preferred. This will be a MS assignment.
· Assessment, prioritization, communication and documentation skills. IV starts, blood administrations. Teaching facility experience preferred.
· Suctioning, O2 Therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, External catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, falls prevention management, restraints
· Will be in the ER area but caring for Med Surg patients with admission orders.
· Important to realize the needs during transitions from ER to MS inpatient

· Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds)
● Orientation:
· Travelers who are new to the facility or return travelers who have been gone for 1+ years will have 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit
· Rehires: orientation will depend on last date here
● Scheduling:
· Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule
· On call? No
▪ Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
▪ Holiday Expectations: This does not mean they will automatically be scheduled for those dates, but we will not contractually guarantee to being off prior to arrival.
