Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality care to patients in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered care on a Medical Surgical/Orthopedic unit.
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, administering medication and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families.
• Participate in patient care meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Days: Day shift, including every other weekend
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Floating: May float to telemetry or other medical surgical floors as needed

Unit Details

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical (Med Surg/Ortho)
• Number of Beds: 17
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 5 patients
• Common Diagnoses: Hips, knees, shoulders, and spine surgeries

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical surgical or orthopedic nursing specialty.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry; must pass a dysrhythmia examination.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Additional Information

• Orientation: One shift of orientation to the unit.
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
• Holidays: Candidates will be expected to work during holiday rotations.
• Scrub Color: Navy.
• Support Services: Hospitalists on-site 24/7, and pharmacy and respiratory therapy available around the clock.
