Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical Unit. This position requires a passion for patient care, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Schedule: Days, Every Other Weekend (EOW)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Total Beds: 30
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1 to 5
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Holidays: Work integrates into permanent staff rotation

Patient Care and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population, including medical patients and post-operative surgical cases. Responsibilities include:

• Performing patient assessments and monitoring vital signs
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
• Collaborating with healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans
• Providing education to patients and families about health management and post-operative care
• Participating in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical specialty
• Previous travel nursing experience is required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• COVID-19 vaccination is required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry; dysrhythmia exam required
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills

Additional Information

• Charge Nurse duties are performed by a clinical supervisor, who does not take patient assignments but provides relief during breaks.
• Hospitalist available 24/7
• Orientation to the unit will be provided.
