Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Med Surg/Peds Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment addressing both adult and pediatric patients, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.

Shift Notes

This position requires day shifts, with weekend availability as needed. The nurse will be expected to float to other units as required.

Responsibilities

  • Caring for a mix of adult and pediatric patients with various diagnoses, including but not limited to UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD.
  • Managing a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night.
  • Collaborating with a team that includes nurse aides and patient care techs, ensuring a supportive environment with a recommended ratio of 2 nurse aides on days and 1 at night.
  • Documentation of patient care, which can be complex and requires clear communication and teamwork.
  • Providing assistance with medical equipment, including troubleshooting BiPAP, but not managing ventilators.
  • Applying telemetry monitors and interpreting strips; working with ICU monitor systems.
  • Participating in orientation and training sessions as needed to familiarize with unit protocols.

Qualifications

  • Active BLS and PALS certification required.
  • Experience in a medical surgical unit is preferred, particularly with pediatric patients.
  • Strong communication skills and motivation to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to ask questions and seek assistance when needed.

Additional Information

This is a nursing role that allows for self-scheduling, ensuring flexibility in managing your work hours. There is a requirement to float to the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit for specific patient care as needed.
