Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Med Surg 3CC unit. This position involves providing comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced environment with a focus on post-operative recovery and medical overflow cases.

Position Details

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical (Med Surg)
• Number of Beds: 30
• Nurse-Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6
• Common Diagnoses/Patient Types:
  • Total joint replacement
  • Spinal surgery
  • Urology procedures
  • Abdominal surgeries (laparoscopic appendectomy, bowel resection)
  • Bariatric surgery
  • Medical overflow
  • Hemovacs and JP drains
  • Colostomies
• Experience Requirements:
  • Preferred surgical experience
  • Post-operative and early ambulation experience
• Charge Nurse Availability: Charge Nurse on each shift; may take a low-acuity assignment on nights
• Nurse Aide/Patient Care Tech Support: 1 Tech for every 12 patients
• Respiratory Equipment: Basic troubleshooting required; Respiratory Therapists will manage treatments
• Telemetry/Monitor Tech Availability: Remote telemetry packs available; monitor tech interprets data

Shifts & Scheduling

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling: Not available; Manager will create schedule
• Rotation: Day/Night rotation will occur no more than weekly
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: As needed
• Floating Requirements: Potential to float to medical and telemetry units

Dress Code

Scrub colors can be any color.

Additional Information

Bedside shift report is an expectation for all shifts. The unit is known for its close-knit culture and strong team dynamics.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
