Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Trauma

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med/Surg Trauma position in a dynamic healthcare environment. The successful candidate will work primarily in the Spine Center, providing care for post-surgical patients with trauma, neurosurgery, and orthopedic needs.

Contract Length

The position is posted for a duration of 26 weeks, with opportunities for extension available.

Shift Details

  • 12-Hour Shifts
  • 36 hours guaranteed per week
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Rotation: HCP may request 1 holiday off

Note: Orientation will occur bi-weekly and may vary based on current class sizes. Flexibility with start dates is required.

Job Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, your duties will include:

  • Providing compassionate patient-centered care for post-operative spinal surgery, neurosurgery, and orthopedic injuries.
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Monitoring patient progress and responding to changes in condition.
  • Utilizing the Epic charting system for documentation and patient management.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas or a multistate license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
  • ACLS certification required prior to start.
  • ADN or BSN degree in Nursing.
  • No previous hits on your license.
  • No first-time travelers; local travelers accepted at the same rate.

Immunization and Health Requirements

Immunization documentation is required, including:

  • Hepatitis B
  • MMR
  • Varicella (obtained by titer or vaccination series completion)
  • TDaP vaccine
  • Annual Influenza vaccine or exemption request during flu season
  • TB documentation

Unit Overview

The unit consists of 27 beds dedicated to caring for patients recovering from:

  • Spinal surgeries
  • Neurosurgeries
  • Orthopedic surgeries
  • Trauma-related injuries

Staffing ratios are maintained at 1:6, ensuring quality patient care and support.

Jewelry and Appearance Policy

Visible tattoos are permitted, provided they are not offensive or inappropriate. Jewelry and body piercings must maintain a professional appearance and not interfere with job responsibilities.
