• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5
• Unit Staffing: Secretary present daily, PRN techs available
• Type of Equipment: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV Pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block
• Floating Policy: Will float over core staff as needed
• Patient Experience Requirements:
  • Bedside shift report
  • Safety checks every 1-2 hours
  • Focus on communication and responsiveness
• Must Have: BLS, NIHSS certifications

Job Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be capable of performing basic patient assessments and providing general care for the following:

• Wounds
• Tracheostomy care
• Ostomy care
• Management of drains and chest tubes
• Caring for patients with strokes and seizures
• Support for patients requiring dialysis or PCA pumps
• Administration of Heparin as the only drip medication

Post-Operative Procedures on the Unit

• Amputations
• Ostomy care
• Management of drains and chest tubes
• Oral surgeries
• Wound vacs

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Navy, Blue, White, Black, Gray, Ceil Blue

Unit Guidelines and Policies

• HAI prevention: CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
• Fall prevention protocols
• DCL Lounge/Throughput procedures
• 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
• Attendance as per unit policy
