Registered Nurse (RN) – Maternity/Birthing

Job Description

The Maternity and Birthing Unit is a family-centered, multidisciplinary care area dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care to mothers, newborns, and families throughout the childbirth experience. This unit offers high-quality antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care while promoting patient safety, education, and positive birth experiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to mothers and newborns.
• Collaborate with a team of nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff to ensure comprehensive care.
• Float to Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as needed.
• Maintain effective communication with families and provide educational support.
• Monitor and manage postpartum and antepartum care, including antepartum monitoring.

Schedule

• Must be available for at least 1-2 weekends per month.
• No holiday shifts required.

Unit Information

• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:3 (may vary).
• Unit Size: 32 beds.
• Serves a diverse urban population, including a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in maternity care.
• Experience with postpartum care and baby care.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Fetal monitoring experience is required (certificate not needed).
