Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery to provide exceptional care to our laboring patients. The ideal candidate will support patient preferences and promote vaginal birth opportunities, ensuring a personalized and high-quality birth experience.

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 9 Labor & Delivery, 3 swing rooms, 2 Operating Rooms, 3-bay OBED
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2
  • Staffing: Includes unit secretaries and scrub techs, with a dedicated CRNA and midwife available in-house 24/7, and OBGYNs on call
  • Documentation Systems: CPN and Meditech
  • Scheduling Requirements: Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per month
  • Floating Policy: Staff may float to maternity/baby or outside department to fulfill tasks if necessary
  • Patient Experience Metrics: Maintain a patient satisfaction score above 75%

Qualifications

  • Required Certifications: RN, ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring
  • Preferred Skills: Ability to provide high-quality care, support patient choice, and implement advanced techniques such as Spinning Babies and STABLE
  • Procedures Performed: Circulating in OR, IUPC, FSE, Magnesium Sulfate administration, postpartum hemorrhage management via JADA system, and nitrous oxide usage

Dress Code

Uniform consists of hot pink and black; hot pink is required for the top and black is preferred for the bottom.

Additional Information

We utilize a laborist team model with 24/7 availability of midwives, dedicated CRNA, and OB on call. Our focus is on personalizing each birth experience to meet our patients’ desires and needs. Couplet care is practiced in our postpartum unit, ensuring that newborns do not leave the bedside, promoting breastfeeding with the support of donor milk availability when necessary. A Level 2 NICU with NNPs is dedicated to our unit and available for all high-risk deliveries as needed.
